Uttar Pradesh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently made an education action plan for the state that includes the establishment of a state-level ranking structure for educational establishments, similar to the NIRF, to promote “healthy competition.”
He also requested that officials work with athletes to develop the state’s new sports policy.
“On the lines of NIRF, a SIRF should be started. It will help foster healthy competition among institutes and make everyone strive for improvement. It will also help students in securing admissions, and also the placement agencies in selecting institutions,” the CM said.
In 2015, the union education ministry (then known as the Union Human Resource Development) introduced the National Institutional Ranking Methodology (NIRF) as a framework for ranking educational institutions across the country.
“A new sports policy for the state should be prepared at the earliest. The help of sports professionals should be sought for this,” the CM said.
He said that the education sector had been in the grasp of the “education mafia” for a long time, but that his government had ensured that exams were “cheating-free.”
