Education Policy to strengthen academics and the nation: HRD Minister

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Monday has stated that the new education policy has been put through a lot of scrutinies designed to strengthen the academics in order to influence the world through the age-old value system of India. The minister was delivering a lecture on ‘A New Education Policy for a New India’ at a private university.

The Union Minister also mentioned that the new education policy has been taken up after a gap of three decades and will be based on the ethics and value system of the country. The education policy aims to strengthen the nation by making life meaningful. He also added that no other country can share the philosophy of India.

The new education policy was also been subjected to consultations as it was put in the public domain for suggestions.  According to the minister, the consultation taken up for the new education policy is the biggest ever.

The minister also pointed out that India has over 1000 universities, with 45000 colleges, 16 lakh schools and over one crore teachers and 33 crore students considered to be more than the population of the United stated.

The minister also added that a lot depends on the young generation. While referring to the Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, and start-up India campaigns from the government, the minister also said that these endeavors will take the country towards progress.

Regarding the importance of the skill development by the Prime Minister the union minister said that through the vocational courses taught in the schools. He also added that the government aims to teach the students the skills which will last them a lifetime.
